In August, 1903, under the encouragement of Dr. W.C. Golden, then State Missions Secretary, a group of Baptist met about three miles north of Goodlettsville and organized the Goodlettsville Baptist Church.  They purchased a lot on McClure Street and moved the building of the Hebron Baptist Church to the location.  In 1904, Dr. Golden conducted the first baptismal service in Mansker Creek.

In 1939, the church felt the need for a new building.  A lot on Myers Street was given by Mr. J.C. Garrett. Sr. and through sacrificial giving of money and labor the church was completed in 1941.  At the suggestion of Bro. Collins in 1947, the church voted to changed the name from Goodlettsville Baptist Church to the First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville.  During this period of time the church experienced rapid growth.

In January of 1963, it became evident that additional space would be needed to meet the growing demands of the church family.  An eight acre plot was purchased on South Dickerson Road and plans were made to build the third church in the history of First Baptist Church Goodlettsville.  The cornerstone was laid on September 10, 1967, and the first worship service in the sanctuary was held on February 4, 1968.

As changes occurred within the church, it was evident that expanded space was necessary.  In May of 1990, the church overwhelmingly voted to build a Family Life Center which was completed in November 1993.
